Dell Technologies (DT) had a huge presence at VMworld San Francisco this year with two full-sized booths, multiple hands-on labs and a bevy of well-attended breakout sessions. The announcements they made at the show did justice to their numbers, as they made several key announcements, including:
- PKS on Cloud Foundation on VxRail – Given all the attention at the show lavished on the app developer community (Tanzu announcement, Pivotal acquisition, Project Pacific), this joint solution will be a key offering moving forward, as it will drive faster adoption of hybrid cloud by addressing the cloud-native market and giving IT a more simplified, automated way to deploy a container-based development platform. It was also displayed in the VMworld HCI Zone. If you haven’t already, visit VMware’s Partner Demand Center for the Dell co-branded HCI campaign: VMware Cloud Foundation on VxRail that includes emails, banners and social posts.
- Dell EMC SD-WAN Edge – This solution has the potential to be the “VxRail for networking”—a Dell-based appliance for SD-WAN that plays a key role in enabling multi-cloud deployments by solving for edge use cases. The VMware SD-WAN Campaign is your opportunity to tap into this growing market by helping your customers and prospects address their business challenges.
- DT Validated Designs – This details new Dell EMC platform options now certified for Cloud Foundation, including PowerMax and Unity XT storage arrays and PowerEdge MX servers, giving customers many new options for running a VMware-based cloud, and allowing them to tailor their hardware platform to their workload needs.
- Dell Technologies Cloud Data Center as a Service (DCaaS) and Flex on Demand – DT’s DCaaS offering was previewed at Dell Tech World in May; at VMworld they confirmed limited US availability for the offering, and also announced Flex on Demand pricing from Dell Financial Services. The combination will allow customers to rent and consume this DCaaS option the same way they would a public cloud. With this robust set of new offerings that are perfectly aligned to VMware strategy laid out at the show, VMware and Dell Technologies are positioning you, our partners, to continue the strong growth trajectory established since the Dell acquisition of EMC.
